Acrylic Stand Sticky Notes Holder : a wedding favor

A cousin of mine will be tying the knot this coming April 2012. They will have a spring wedding in the US. It is very impossible for us to be there but she wants us to be a part of their special day. So she asked me to make her wedding favors, 100% from the Philippines  and 100% made by us. At least through the favors, our presence will still be felt, hehehe.

So this is what I made for her and her future hubby, and I am very glad they really like it.

Inspired by this and this and this!

I made 85 pcs. of Acrylic Stand Sticky Notes Holder, which is refillable. It also comes with a pen holder. I added a native touch, by inserting a Sinamay (Abaca Fiber) inside the Acrylic --- a very challenging thing to do, hehehe. But, patiently, I finished all.

I also made boxes . (Sorry no tutorial for the box...maybe in the future)

Want to make the Acrylic Stand Sticky Notes Holder?

Here's what you need:

Acrylic Card Stand, Cross Grain Ribbon,  Board (for the Sticky Notes Cover), Fabric Flower (for Decor), Sinamay , Pencil and Sticky Notes. Sizes are not specified because I will leave it up to you. For adhesives, I used Hot Melt Glue, Elmer's Glue and Double Sided Tape.

How you will do it:

Cut out Sinamay according to your Acrylic stand size. I used the paper that comes with the stand as template.

The size of the ribbons for pen holders depends on the pen you are going to put. I used Hot Melt Glue for the ribbons and the fabric flower adhesion.

The cover is made of board and I pasted a Thank you message in front of it.  I used hot melt glue in putting the ribbon to the board. Double sided tapes were placed at the back ready for putting the board cover into the frame.

For the ribbon with the fabric flower, I used hot let glue to adhere it into the frame. After putting everything in the frame, you are done.

So simple!!!

Coloring Mandalas

I love to Color!!!

When I was pregnant, my baby don't want me to sleep, hehehe. I don't like to watch TV or read a book. It was also at this time that I don't find the Internet amusing. I have so many weird feelings when I was preggy, these were just few of those. So I just sat in the bed and do nothing. It was so stressful for me and the baby.

I have to do something to keep me busy until I can go to sleep. There was not much work in the office then, so I began to search (secretly, ssssh!!!) for creative things to do. Coloring was my choice. I was looking for pages which are more intricate ones, and challenging too. I found many but what caught my attention was the astonishing intricacy of the MANDALAS.

What are Mandalas?
I have to lead you to Wikipedia, hehehe.
This SITE  too gives you a simpler explanation of what Mandala is and free coloring pages, as well.

The pattern itself is beautiful and when you color it, it is even more.
It did not only keep me busy at night, it was also a way to calm my self, bringing out that creative part of me.
It was relaxing and fulfilling, too.

I printed lots and lots, and these are some of the mandalas I colored using colored pencils

I got these free mandala coloring pages HERE.
And to give you some inspirations, HERE's a very nice gallery.

Happy Mandala Coloring!!!

Cute Animals Notepad

Another project using my Cute Animal Doodles.

My best friend , Ingrid, gave me a notepad last December 2010. She was the one who designed it, print and have it beautifully bound.  I used it mostly for grocery list, doodles, or take down notes. Still have few pages left :), and will leave it blank for keep sake, hehehe.

She shared it in her store as a freebie, which you can customize. It comes also with a very clear instructions.
So visit her store now --- http://www.mscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=837

I had done some notepads before (based on Ingrid's template), for Christmas gifts.

For my latest notepad project, I made my own template and I used my cute animal doodles. The size of the notepad is 9cm x 9cm.

You can try making your own notepad, just download my PSD file for the template, edit the text and print. If you don't want any text in it, you can download the JPEG version, to print directly. After printing (Paper Size is 8.5 X 13), cut and gather all the paper, then clip it. Put glue on top of the gathered papers, at least 3 layers. Drying one layer at a time. You can also use a Padding Compound.
Notepad with name.

Notepad with no name.
